What are concrete slabs?

A concrete slab is an extremely popular structural component used in building construction. It is a thick and flat horizontal concrete surface that is typically used as an area for flooring or as a roof. More so, concrete slabs are used for the construction of the ground floors of many residential structures to support the foundation or directly on the soil.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete installation isn't for those who aren't confident. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors adheres to the strict process of installing concrete slabs.

Safety is an important factor for all our concrete projects. Before any project is started, we make sure to be equipped with the proper safety equipment. We wear eye protection, long sleeves, long trousers rubber boots and gloves. These protections shield us from concrete splashes which could damage our health overall and well being.

Similar to before, we follow the steps below:

Step 1: Preparation on site

We follow the same process regardless of the size project we are working on. Preparing the site is the very first step in all our projects. We tidy up and remove all waste in order for us to start over. As part of the preparation process, all materials must be on-site. We plan the delivery of the materials prior to the time we begin actual work. This allows us to complete the project within the timeframe.

Step 2 Re-inforce concrete slabs using steel, and then construct concrete forms

When the area is clean and prepared, we begin by putting in concrete forms using wire mesh. Concrete forms are solid barriers that hold concrete mix in place. Concrete mix is forced to conform to a specific shape or design. As for larger structures, we employ Rebar to strengthen concrete. This allows for stronger concrete surfaces.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

We use a concrete truck to facilitate the process. Concrete materials can be mixed more efficiently using a concrete truck. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. A concrete mixer is needed for the majority of projects.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

After mixing the concrete then the concrete slab is then poured into the molds. We do it carefully when pouring the concrete mix to ensure that we do not create too many air pockets. Air pockets result from the mortar not being fully filled with the aggregate. When we pour concrete, we make sure we spread the mix throughout the form, not missing one spot.
